DVD Players
Can I Listen To DVD Audio Discs on My DVD Player?
There are two new types of disc audio: DVD Audio and Super Audio CD. Both
are angling to replace CDs as the audio format of choice.
DVD Audio discs offer 6-channel or stereo sound that is much higher
in quality than current CDs, and allows you to enjoy many things that
traditional CD doesn't offer: up to six channels of audio, and additional
features such as lyrics, picture galleries, animation, audio commentary
- even full-motion video.
Super Audio CD, despite its name, is actually a DVD format. Like
DVD Audio discs, the sound quality will be much higher than current CDs.
Some Super Audio CDs can be played on traditional CD players - but only
in two-channel sound. Super Audio CDs can not be played on DVD or DVD
Audio players. Super Audio Players will be able to play Super Audio CDs
in full, six-channel sound.
